Hello! I am excited to be at Ikard Elementary as my home campus and Curtis Elementary in the morning to help students. This is my second year at Weatherford ISD and my second year to teach dylsexia. This is my 17th year in education. I have taught First, Second, and Third Grade and tutored reading to students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Weatherford ISD uses the Take Flight program which is a comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. It is a two-three year Orton-Gillingham based curriculum written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Children with dyslexia can learn to read and be successful despite their learning differences.
I want to help meet the specific reading needs of all children. If I can help with instructional reading practices or if you are concerned about your child's reading, please contact me. The best thing you can do for your child is read with them, read to them, and listen to them read. I am excited to join the Ikard and Curtis teams, and I look forward to meeting all of the students, parents, and faculty. GO ROOS!
The mission of Weatherford ISD is to teach, challenge and inspire each student in a safe, nurturing environment to succeed in the global community.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
